Disney monorail spiel file

Welcome aboard the Disneyland Monorail. We are now beginning a two-and-a-half mile journey to Downtown Disney Station and back. For a safe trip, remain seated, keeping your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the cabin. Be sure to watch your children—and no smoking, please. When Walt Disney introduced this attraction in , it was the first daily-operating monorail system in the Western Hemisphere.

That towering hotel in the distance is home to Twilight Zone Tower of Terror—where you can literally drop in on Hollywood history.

If you will be leaving us here and returning later today, please hold on to your park ticket and have your hand stamped as you leave the station. You may re-board the monorail for a return trip to Tomorrowland up until one half-hour prior to Disneyland closing. Please remain seated until the monorail comes to a complete stop, and the doors have opened.

In , Monorail Orange was taken off the line and taken to Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale to be reverse-engineered. Monorail Blue was removed from service in September and was shipped away to also be rebuilt. The monorail was closed from August 21 through late December to prepare for the opening of Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage in Monorail Red was then changed to promote the Year of a Million Dreams promotion.

They were built at the Disney Studio by Bob Gurr and ran from until This fleet consisted of two trains, Monorail Red and Monorail Blue, which each consisted of only three cars. The Mark II trains were introduced in when the monorail track was extended to the Disneyland Hotel, and the attraction became an actual transportation system.

To accommodate the increased capacity necessary to transport guests between Tomorrowland and the Disneyland Hotel, the number of cars per train was increased from three to four, which required the Tomorrowland station to be lengthened. The bubble dome on the top of each end car was larger than those of the Mark I cars, but otherwise, the trains were cosmetically very similar to their predecessors. Each train was completely rebuilt to be more streamlined and efficient, and the rolling stock was increased to five cars per train.
